I've visited dreamwidth before, but only for short periods, like for a specific fic or something that happened to only be posted here. Tumblr's latest bad decision (altering the way notes work for some ungodly reason) has pushed me to finally make an account here. There's been times in the past where I've tried a new site and ended up going back to Tumblr, so we're just gonna have to wait and see how active I end up being here.
I've already started looking into a couple multifandom communities, mostly challenges for fic writers. I'm interested to see if these challenges finally manage to make me a more active author, whether of fic or original work.
Maybe if I'm feeling brave I'll post personal stuff on here. Life updates, that kinda thing. I don't even do that on Tumblr; I mostly just don't think of it. Same reason I've tried and failed to keep a journal- thoughts fly in and out of my head too fast to bother writing any of it down. Who knows, maybe this time it'll stick and I'll actually have a blog for once. I won't get my hopes up tho, lol.
No matter how I end up using this site, or even if I simply end up leaving, I'm looking forward to exploring a new (to me) online space. Here's hoping I stick around.
(also I have no idea how tags work here. is it like tumblr, where you can just chatter in them? guess i'll find out.)

17/3/26 04:35 (UTC)The Follow Friday Master Post has lists of active communities by topic where you can look for some based on your interests, including some of the Most Useful Communities. Many bloggers use recurring posts to pin down their key interests and maintain activity, which is also a good source of inspiration if you aren't sure what you want to post yet.
This month's big event is

Plenty of people do that. You might consider a weekly or monthly update as an option for it. There are also communities like

Tags are not for chatter on DW, just organization. Here are some alternatives to talking in the tags.
